Calling all you Decorating Divas!
I need some help and inspiration. So I am gonna need all your help! Everyone that leaves comments on this blog is SOOOO crafty and has such great ideas. And for those of you that read, but don't leave comments, now is your chance. Help a girl out!!!
Today's assignment, my family room.
I can't decide if it's TOO much, if it all goes with the "feel" I want.
I just don't know.
My main question is if the picture gallery looks off?
I like my shelves above the chair, I just don't know if my picture gallery goes, and if the iron piece above the tv goes. That is what I need help with. Should I leave that? Should I do something different? Tai Pan is literally 5 miles from my house, so re-doing it isn't going to be hard. I love the idea of that picture gallery, I just don't know if it goes with my feel. I want a warm, family, french country vibe going on, and I just am afraid it's all clashing too much.
p.s. I WILL be putting pictures in the frames. so use your imagination for now. they will be chocolate black and white photos. Also the lighting is a bit off. The family room wall is a darker coffee brown, more like the last picture.

Well I'm not a decorating diva, but I do really like your new house. It looks VERY nice. Can't wait to see it in person :)
QUICK GLANCE, FIRST THOUGHTS, IF YOU WANT TO USE WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE I WOULD RECOMMEND SOMETHING TALL ON THE FLOOR NEXT TO THE T.V. TO BRING YOUR EYE UP TOWARDS THE IRON GRILLE, NOW IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE IT IS FLOATING. FOR THE PHOTO GALLERY, I WOULD MAYBE PLAY AROUND WITH THE LAYOUT, I THINK IT IS TO COMPACT, I THINK IT MIGHT LOOK BETTER IF IT WERE MORE STRETCHED, ESPECIALLY VERTICALLY. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? I LOVE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE THOUGH, YOU HAVE ALWAYS HAD A FLAIR FOR DECORATING, YOU DID GOOD. I THINK IF YOU ARE QUESTIONING A COUPLE OF THINGS THOUGH, THAT MEANS TO YOUR EYE SOMETHING ABOUT IT ISN'T QUITE RIGHT, AND YOU HAVE HIT THAT BLOCK THAT ALL OF US HIT AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER. IT'S HARD TO STAND BACK AND BE OBJECTIVE WHEN IT'S SOMETHING YOU LOOK AT ALL THE TIME. HOPE THIS WAS SOME HELP! HAPPY DECORATING. FEEL FREE TO CALL ME IF YOU NEED TOO!
You're right, Mom. I have looked at it all day today, trying to decide if I liked it or not, and I have decided that I do not like it. So it's back to the drawing board. I just have NO IDEA what to do with that corner.
Anyone have any suggestions.
First of all, I love the wall colors, love the star above the fireplace and love the shelves above the chair. FABULOUS!!! There is something a bit off about that corner though. I agree with mom, I think something tall on the floor to the right of the t.v. would help. Perhaps a fake tree or tall piece of pottery with curly willow or something. As far as the picture gallery, I really like the way you arranged it, it just doesn't seem to quite work there for some reason and I can't place why? It's been my own personal experience though that a life size oil painting of me doing the "George" pose always immediately spruces up any problem areas! =) Sorry I couldn't be of more help. It's no secret though that I did not end up with the good genes in this family, my whole house is a "problem corner". Good Luck! Oh and Nick, who are you trying to fool? You're the biggest diva of them all!
It's the picture gallery. I needs to be wider vertically. I agree with your mom and Hollie that there needs to be something taller by the iron grille. Maybe another one similar, and put the side by side one a little higher than the other. Nick we all know you're a DIVA!
Okay well I guess the secrets out about me being a Diva. Who was I trying to kid?
