Pottery Barn taste on a Dollar Store Budget
Okay, is it just me, or does anyone else feel that Pottery Barn kids was just created to make you feel like crap? Seriously? I am trying to get the kids play room done, and I look through my PB Kids catalog, and I dog ear almost every single page. Then I go through it again, and just "narrow down" what I MUST have to make the kids play room acceptable. Then I go through and calculate how much the "necessity's" are, and it still adds up to like a million dollars!
So then I get mad, feel like crap, and have a ceremonial fire of all my PB catalogs!
Is it too much to ask for to have a nice playroom for the kids to feel inspired, creative, and most importanly, somewhere to send them to make a mess and leave me alone for 5 minutes, without sending us to the poor house!!!
So after I calmed down, and put out the ceremonial fire and reclaimed my sanity, I decided that I too could have a PB kids playroom, ......but only on my Dollar Store Budget!
Growing up, I remember shopping with my Mom, and I loved her saying, she would look at something, and then whisper to me......"Oh my gosh, we could make that for SO MUCH cheaper, and it will be a lot more fun that way too!" So that is what I am going to do! I am going to try to recreate PB Kids. I think it will be fun too! And it will be fun to be able to still pay my bills, and not have my hubby leave me because I spent all of our money on one room! I have to spread out our "house" budget. This house is much bigger than any home we have ever lived in. I still have 3 rooms that have NO furniture in them, but that's for another rant!
So watch out Thrift stores, garage sales and the Dollar Store! Here I come!!!

I'm sure you will pull it off! You are always great at that stuff. Too bad we don't live way closer to do all the "thrift" shopping together.....boo hoo! I want to see pics when you do get it done.
That's funny that you mention this because I was planning a thrift store/garage sale hunt myself this weekend. Every other Saturday at the Goodwill is 50% off day, so it's a double bargain. Don't know what I'll find, but we'll see. I know your rooms will turn out great, they always do. You're kind of like my Pottery Barn. Whenever I see the cute things you've done to your house I look at mine and feel like CRAP! Then I have a ceremonial fire of all my pictures of you. JUST KIDDING...HAHA!

I would LOVE some help with my house! Mom, come on up, and we'll have a decorating party.
I LOVE looking through the PB catalogs and wish I could make my rooms look like theirs but there is no way I can afford that. So I feel overwhelmed and just don't do anything. I need to try the thrift shopping method and other creative ways. Keep us posted on what you find and come up with.
