Do you want the good news or the bad news first?

Good News:
Pictures of our Ward Christmas Party on Saturday.
We put together a Christmas Breakfast. We had everyone bring a breakfast casserole, we had muffins, fruit, friends, carols, a craft for the kids, and a surprise visit!
Bad News:
It's been a little hard for me to get into the Christmas mood this year.
I REALLY want to be, but I keep missing the boat.

I keep letting "life" get in the way. Actually, I'm not letting it, it just has a way of bull-dozing over everything else and making itself center stage. What an attention hog!!!

Anyways, I will spare you all the details that make up my life right now.
I will just share the most recent "bah-humbug!" moment.

Our Christmas was sort of cancelled.

We were supposed to be going to Phoenix to spend Christmas with my family. I was so excited.
We need a vacation, and the kids were so excited to see everyone. I couldn't wait to hold Urban. Ahhhhhhh. . . it was going to be perfect.

But I got sick.
Pluerisis. (I think that is how you spell it.)
Not a big deal, it's just a lung infection, but it's pretty painful, and not something that I want to be stuck with on a 15 hour drive.

This will be my first Christmas EVER without my family.

I think it's all harder on me than on the kids.
But I felt like an awful Mom.
I feel like I ruined Christmas. So I am trying to make up for it.

Jason and I decided to do the "10 day's before Christmas" with the kids. (we are doing 10 instead of 12 because we didn't know that I was too sick until Friday)Anyways, one of Santa's Elves leaves a present on our door every day until Christmas.
Shhhh. It's a surpise! The Elves don't want Santa to know they are leaving the workshop to do this. The kids love it.
The first day the Elves brought a movie and treats.
The second day they brought a lego set for each of the boys, and a princess doll for Ava.
Today the Elves brought a cookie kit.
The kids are getting a kick out of it.
And I think it's brightening my spirits a bit too.

THAT'S A REALLY CUTE IDEA. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT MIGHT EVEN TURN INTO A FUN NEW CHRISTMAS TRADITION FOR YOUR FAMILY.

YES, IT WILL BE A BLUE CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR! THIS WILL BE THE FIRST YEAR THAT WE WON'T ALL BE TOGETHER FOR CHRISTMAS, WE WILL MISS ALL THE FUN AND LAUGHTER AND THE SWEET FACES OF THE KIDS WHEN THEY WAKE UP CHRISTMAS MORNING. SO SORRY YOU ARE SICK. HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER SOON, IT'S NO FUN BEING SICK WHEN YOU ARE A MOM.
LOVE YA, FEEL BETTER SOON, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, REMEMBER PARENTS NEVER STOP WORRYING ABOUT THEIR CHILDREN. WISH I WAS THERE TO "MOTHER" YOU.
WE WILL GET UP THERE AS SOON AS WE CAN.

Glad you guys had fun at your Christmas party. Ours was fun too but I forgot to take pictures. The 10 days before Christmas is such a cute idea, I bet the kids are loving it!
I too am very sad that we can't all be together for Christmas. We're so excited for Mom & Dad to be here, but will definitely miss everyone else. Hope you feel better soon.

I love the ten days before Christmas idea. I am so sorry to hear you are so sick. It is hard to be sick, be the mom, and have Christmas on top of it. I hope you start feeling better soon and that you can still have a wonderful Christmas.

The Christmas party looked way fun! Great job! I love your 10 days idea......I'm sure they will love every second of it! You didn't ruin Christmas, you actually added to it by doing that.
