Up, Up, and Away

Sometimes I question my intelligence.
We discovered our newest favorite family outing.
The gondola ride up to the top of Snow Basin.
And I wonder why we've never done it before?
We've lived here for 2 years now. I've heard of it, ........hmmmm?
Maybe I am just not that smart.

Anyways, my parents are up this week, so that my Dad can help Jason with his crazy work load, now that he has been trying to do by himself, so we decided to take Saturday and do something fun. And fun was had by all.

We rode the gondola up, and it just kept going, and going, and going. I thought it would just take us up a bit, but oh no! It kept going, and going and going! (do you get the point now? It just kept going!) It was really worth it.

Once we got to the top we hiked around for a bit, ooohed and awwwed over the lodge up there, especially the bathrooms!, and then rode back down. We saw deer on the way down, and the view was gorgeous. The lake was so bright, and the leaves are starting to change a little bit.

The boys would climb up onto rocks and beat their chests like King Kong.
Maybe they aren't as smart as I thought they were either?
I love that picture of my family waving to us as we left on our gondola cart.
And, even though I may not be the brightest, aren't my shoes AWESOME!!! You can't go wrong with brown and pink polkadots!

This was kind of a spur of the moment trip, so I want to remember some things to make it even better for next time .......
*hiking in heels isn't as glamorous as it may seem.
*look on line first to find out when they have their full moon parties. (they were having one that night that we all wanted to stay for, but we didn't know about it before we got there. You can ride up and stay for a BBQ and star gaze with the big ole' telescopes. How fun would that be!?)
*find out about the lodge dinners. (that night they were doing a fancy-smchmancy Parisian dinner. How romantic!!!!)
*Bring sweaters, it's a bit cooler up there.
*Bring drinks and snacks!
* teach the children not to cause a scene by touching the fake moose' nether-regions.

All in all, like I said, we had some serious fun.
Seriously!

That looks like tons of fun!

Don't you love it when you discover something new that was right under your nose...it then becomes your new thing and you bring everybody there!

Gorgeous! I loooove Utah trees in the fall, and the view of the lake is so pretty.

Looks like a total blast! That's what Utah is GREAT for.....fun, family hikes! Great shots! Only my Heather would know she is going to the mountains and STILL wear spiky high heels!!!!;)

I love my heels as much as the next high-heeled momma (or future momma), but hiking in heels? Girl, you're crazy. I don't think I'd have much fun 'cuz I'd be trying not to break my neck the whole time.

How fun that your mom and dad are up there. They're never coming back, are they? They're going to go up there and visit you and now that Hollie's there too there's just no reason to come back to the desert.

I love the picture of Addison. She's all bundled up and her hair is all askew...so cute!

Okay, I guess I need to clarify. this was a spur of the moment trip, I did not plan on wearing heels hiking!!! Jason and I had actually JUST got back from our Anniversary night out, and we decided to take a drive up. I WAS worried the whole time I was gonna break my neck! Luckily I didn't, and I can live to tell the tale!

Nate and I have talked about going up there and then we found out how much it costs. We are too cheap! Your post is tempting me though. I'm glad you didn't suffer any injuries in those sassy heels. They are very cute by the way.
