Everyday in May - May 20th (Recital and Field Trip)
Woke up EARLY to get everyone out the door. Jason took Avery to my sister's house for the day so that I could go on a field trip with Blaise to This is the Place, in Salt Lake City. It was such a fun place and I am excited to take the whole family back.
It was so neat to be able to go with Blaise. Now that he is a big 4th grader, I don't get to help in his class very much, they just don't need the help, so I don't get to see how he interacts with the other kids. It was so nice to hear what the other kids had to say about him.
All day long I kept hearing, "You're Blaise's Mom?" "Blaise is SUCH a good soccer player." "Blaise is the best artist in our class." "Blaise is the best soccer player in our whole school." "Blaise has the cutest little brother." "You are so pretty, no wonder Blaise is so cute." "So and So loves Blaise."
It was cracking me up.
At lunch I was sitting with a few other Moms and we got talking about who are kid was, when I said I was Blaise's Mom all the Mom's, in unison, said..."YOU are BLAISE'S Mom?" I wasn't sure if it was good or bad. So I shyly shook my head yes and then they went ON and ON about how their daughters have the BIGGEST crush on Blaise, and how they talk about him ALL.THE.TIME!!! One Mom went out of her way to make sure I knew they were a good family, and she even invited us to hang out with them this summer, I kinda felt like we were arranging our children's future. She asked me a few times if Blaise ever talks about her daughter, and I had to be honest. He doesn't. He honestly has no interest in girls yet, and I am hoping it stays that way for a LONG LONG time. Especially after I found out that the whole class likes him.
Anyways, back to the actual trip. Like I said, I can't wait to go back up there. It was really interesting. The kids pulled/pushed hand carts, planted seeds, went to an old fashion school with a very strict teacher, and learned to square dance.

It was so funny, once the kids figured out they had to square dance the boys started freaking out and the girls started saying "I want to dance with Blaise." Then they started counting down the line to see who their matching partner was. It was so funny to see each girl count and when she figured out who her partner was, she would say, "ohhhhhh" and look let down. But when the girl counted hers and realized Blaise was her matching number she got the BIGGEST smile on her face, and started whispering to the other girls who her partner was, and then the other girls all said, "I'll trade ya." Man oh man, he is already a heart breaker and he doesn't even know it. We are in for it when he is older!
BLACKMAIL!!!

This next picture cracks me up. I caught him wiping his hands off on his shirt and he started busting up!
After the field trip I raced back to pick up Ava and then we ran to the dance studio to buy new shoes and tights for her recital tonight, because I can not find hers anywhere!!!
Then we came home and got all dolled up. She LOVED the "getting ready" part of her recital. Jason took the boys to soccer practice and then raced over to see little miss dance! Avery fell asleep on the way there. She needed a quick power nap!!!
We got to the studio and it was a little chaotic. Girls running around everywhere, questions left and right. I had one Mom chew me out royally. Gotta LOVE dance Moms and their diva daughters!!! (Insert eye roll.)
Anyhoo, the recital went off well and my class did so good. Especially little Ava. She was the only girl that had the whole dance down, and she smiled the entire time. I love her!
I felt so honored to introduce her as her Mommy at her first recital!
She was up on the stage being SO SO cute! Waving and smiling!

When the show was over she ran over to her Daddy and he said she was the Star, and I could tell that NOTHING made her happier than her Daddy being so proud of her.
We took her out to dinner afterwards and she got a lot of attention because she was still in her costume. She told EVERYONE that she was the star! This was her first big night and I was so happy for her. She goes along like such a trooper to ALL of the boys soccer games, and she was so excited to haver HER night. The boys were so cute, they dressed up a little for her and gave her big hugs and even HELD HER HAND at the end of the recital when everyone was saying congrats, good-bye's and good jobs.
It was such a great day!
