What would you do?

Back story: I got a ticket a few weeks ago, for "not making a complete stop" at a stop sign, which is ridiculous, but that is for another post. Anyways, I got the ticket, and then with everything going on -moving, Caiden's fall- I completely spaced the ticket, until this week I got a letter in the mail saying they would issue a warrant for my arrest if I didn't pay the ticket. So I ventured down to the courthouse, with the kids in tow, to pay my ticket. I didn't have to see a judge or anything, just go down to the cashier and pay the fee.

Okay, now picture this...........my 3 cute little kids,................sitting on a bench side by side,............all 3 of them are sitting with their arms folded like Mommy asked them to,.....................Avery swinging her feet back and forth because she is too little to touch the floor,.................and she is singing a cute little song to herself, "la dee da, la dee da!" CUTE HUH!!!???

NOW, picture a big mammoth of a guard-woman (and I am not being rude, this lady was HUGE, not fat, just big, almost like a tree!) MARCHING over to the 3 cute little kids, getting about 1 foot away from Avery bending over so she is eye level with her, so there is only about a foot of space between them, and then yelling "SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" right in my little girls face!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!!!! I was stunned! My poor kids were too afraid to move, for fear that the guard lady might eat them or something!!! Then the guard gets back up, gives me the same dirty look she gave Ava, and marched back to her station. Luckily I was done paying, so I ran over to Ave before she came all un-glued, and then she would REALLY be making some noise. And I scooped her up and told the boys how proud of them I was, and gave Ava a big hug and told her she was a good girl and that I LOVED her song!

I couldn't believe this! Still can't! Why would that lady do that? Ava was singing a song! She wasn't crying or yelling, she was sitting with her arms folded, and she wasn't even loud. We were in the LOBBY, and NO ONE else was in there!!!

I was taught to respect adults, and I am teaching my children the same. But how can adults expect children to be respectful when they act like that? IF there is to be no noise, then there should be signs. IF there is to be no children, again SIGNS!!! IF she WAS being too loud (which she wasn't, it was a normal voice) then you march your tree trunk of a body over to me and say "Ma'am, we really can't have her singing in here." Then let ME, her MOTHER be the one to tell her to shhhhhh!!! OR if tree lady STILL can't contain herself and feels the need to say something to SOMEONE ELSE'S child then she can say it an a manner that won't give my children nightmares of police officers for the rest of their young lives! Poor Blaise gets in the car and says "I thought Police officers were supposed to be nice and helpful!!!"

Thanks a lot miss Tree Lady!!! Now how am I supposed to teach my children to be respectful and to trust Police officers when you have set such a good example for them!!!!!!!!!!

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So what would you do? I didn't really know what to do. So I just gave her a dirty look back, grabbed the kids, and hand in hand we walked out past her little station............all singing Ava's beautiful song!!!

*disclaimer* I don't normally resort to name calling, but in her case I felt it was appropriate so you would all get the magnitude of how "large in stature" this lady was.

This makes me so mad I could eat fried chicken! I can totally picture your kids sitting there with arms folded & Ava singing and it's such a sweet picture in my head. It makes me so sad that "tree lady" would squash the music in a little girl's heart. I have another name for her, but I'm too much of a lady to use it! =)

What a whacko!!!!!!! I agree with Hollie, WAY too many names come to mind! One of which is a LOT like a big FAT WITCH! Ok, Hollie, seriously you HAVE to stop beating me to first commenter! That USED to be MY position!!!! :)

Oh man, I was getting so worked up while reading this and I am still fuming! I cannot believe that woman or whatever she was. I think you handle the situation very well. I would have probably done the same thing with the dirty look and than wished I would have told her off. (but I'm too non-confrontational(sp?)to really have said anything)

NO FREAKIN WAY, OH NO SHE DIDN'T!!!! WELL, MAMMOTH TREE LADY JUST RELEASED THE GRANDPARENT ANGER, SHE BETTER BE GLAD WE DON'T LIVE UP THERE, CAUSE WE WOULD BE PAYING HER A LITTLE VISIT. BOY, SHE DOESN'T WANT TO SEE THE WRATH OF DAD & I BOTH UNLEASHED, NOT A PRETTY SIGHT. HOW DARE SHE! YOU HANDLED IT PERFECTLY, YOU SUPPORTED YOUR CHILDREN SO THEY KNEW THEY HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING WRONG, YOU GAVE HER THE LOOK, (WE'VE SEEN THAT LOOK, IT GET'S THE POINT ACROSS) AND YOU ALL PROUDLY MARCHED OUT OF THERE SINGING. YOU MADE YOUR POINT, GOOD FOR YOU. THEN YOU CAME HOME AND VENTED ON YOUR BLOG, SO YOU COULD GET IT OUT. BRAVO! PERFECT! YOU GO GIRL! MAN, THAT JUST MAKES US FUME, SOME PEOPLE ARE SO IGNORANT. PEOPLE LIKE THAT ARE NOT EVEN WORTH WASTING YOUR TIME ON, WE'RE SURE THAT NOTHING YOU WOULD HAVE SAID TO HER, WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THROUGH HER THICK GIANT TREE TRUNK BARK HEAD ANYWAY, SO WHY EVEN LOWER YOUR SELF TO HER LEVEL. SHE IS A MISERABLE PERSON, WHO IS UNHAPPY IN HER OWN PERSONAL LIFE, WORKS AT A JOB SHE HATES, FEELS SHE'S UNDER PAID, AND JUST PLAIN HATES LIFE. REALLY WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT, HOW SAD FOR HER THAT SHE COULD NOT FIND THE JOY & SWEETNESS IN THREE CHILDREN ALL SITTING THERE WITH ARMS FOLDED, THEIR PRECIOUS LITTLE ANGELIC FACES, AND ONE JOYOUSLY SINGING HER OWN LITTLE SONG. HOW EMPTY AND DARK MUST SHE BE THAT THE SIGHT OF THAT WOULDN'T JUST WARM HER HEART AND PULL AT HER HEART STRINGS? IT MUST REALLY SUCK TO BE HER.
LOVE, MOM & DAD (GRAMMA & BAPA)
P.S. JUST THE MENTAL IMAGE OF THE THREE MUNCHKINS SITTING THERE, BROUGHT A SMILE TO OUR FACES AND TOUCHED OUR HEARTS, THANKS FOR THE MIND PICTURE, WE WILL BE REPLAYING IT FOR DAYS TO COME! :) :)
TOO ADORABLE!

I think I should deliver that sign to her! Thanks Mom!!

She was one crazy tree lady!!! I so wish I would have said something now, but I was just as afraid of her as the kids!! And I am non-confrontational too a point. ESPECIALLY to huge he-she's!!! If she could be so cold to a precious little girl singing away, what would she do to me????
