Oregon trip

This is just so I can remember our trip

Sunday
Packed up and left for our long journey back up to Oregon. We stopped halfway and found a nice hotel with a big pool to unwind. We walked across the street to the Cracker Barrell to eat our yummilicious dinner. Then we went swimming for about an hour and then we all got in our comfy's and cuddled up and fell asleep watching a movie.

Monday
Everyone one woke up grumpy! No one slept good. Ava cried a lot during the night, I was in some super pain, Jason had things on his mind, and the boys kept kicking each other and pushing each other off the bed. We went to the hotel lobby to eat our breakfast, packed up the car and started back on our journey. 8 hours later we arrived in Portland. It was good to see Jason's family and to get out of the car. The kids played all night with their cousins, and Jason and I stayed up and read Eileen's journal.

Tuesday
Woke up and wrote a Eulogy. Then we went out to lunch and then took the kids to see Wall-E. They loved it. Then we went back to the house and relaxed for a bit, and then we headed to the viewing. After the viewing we took the kids to the park and to get ice-cream. That cheered everyone up.

Wednesday
No one slept again last night so we had a rough morning. Today is the funeral and that isn't helping any. We took the kids out to breakfast and did a bit of back to school shopping, and then headed home to get ready. The funeral was nice, it was nice to see all the people that came out. We also got news that a development that was being built was going to make a memorial for Eileen in one of their courtyards.

Thursday
Today was supposed to be the burial, but we got news yesterday that the paperwork hit a snag and that it will be postponed until tomorrow. So we decided to go out today. The whole bunch of us. We went out to lunch, and then we headed for the zoo. It was nice to all be together and enjoying the day. The kids LOVE the Portland Zoo, and they have a new Dino exhibit that the kids loved.

Friday
Today was the burial. The cemetery was beautiful. Afterwards we went out to lunch and then to a movie. We took the kids to see Space Chimps and everyone else went to see Batman. Then we went home and we had a big giant slumber party, with everyone.

Saturday
We took the kids out to the coast today. We hit the outlet mall first, and then we spent the afternoon at the beach. Oregon beaches are too cold to play in the water, but they are still a fun place to hang out. We built sand castles, Christy and Dallan buried the kids, we played soccer, played on the dunes, pretty much just got really sandy!!

Sunday
We packed up and said our good-byes. Drove to the same hotel again. Ate at the same place, went swimming and then cuddled up to a movie. Only this time we all slept good.

Monday
Got up, ate our yummy breakfast in our hotel room, and then hit the road. We pulled into our driveway late afternoon and the kids couldn't wait to play Xbox and jump on the trampoline. It's good to be home!

And just because I don't like to do a post without a picture, here is Caidster at the beach!

It wasn't a "fun" trip, but it's good to post about it so that you and the kids will always remember. I'm sure this is a difficult time for Jason, so give him a big hug from all of us. It looks like you made the most of it with your kids.....after all, being so young it's good to keep them entertained still. Love the picture of Caiden, too cute!

I'm so sorry for all that you guys and the rest of Jason's family have been through lately.

Sounds like you made the best of things which I think is a great thing to do for the kids. I'm sure that's how Eileen would have wanted it too.

Love you guys. We're always here if you need anything.

By the way, the Caidster looks awesome as usual. =)

Sorry that you had to make this trip, but it sounds like you got to enjoy some good family time (if that's possible).

And, great picture of your little man, too!

I'm sure you are enjoying being home.
