State Cup
This was Blaise's first year entered in the State Cup. They only accept premier state level competition teams, and they start at U11. Blaise was really excited to see his name in the program and his position listed as one of two of his teams forwards.
His team was very hot and cold through out the fall season, they lost and won about the same amount of games. Which put them in the A bracket, playing against the first place fall team, which beat Blaise's team 6-2, and the third place fall team, which tied with Blaise's team 3-3.
We went into the cup excited, but nervous, because we were playing two of the hardest teams in the league, and it was a knock out bracket. If we lost both games we were done.
We played our first game against the number 3 team and they did very well. We held them the entire game. It was tied 2-2, and then the other team snuck one in on us with only 5 minutes left of the game. The boys were really sad that they lost, because they played their hearts out. But us parents were so incredibly proud of them because they played very well.
The next Saturday we drove on down to Orem again to play the number one team. They hadn't lost a game yet. We were playing so so well. Blaise did amazing! I know I'm his Mom and all, but he really did have the play of the game. The boys and the coaches even told him. He held off 2 defenders, faked left then kicked right, did a rake over and passed it into the center for the assist and then his midfielder brought it home with a one touch in the net! They tied the game up!!!! Blaise's assist tied the game up 2-2.
Unfortunately the tie wasn't enough to get them to the next level, but they did VERY well. They should be very proud of themselves and hopefully they will continue to play as well as a team as they did at this state cup!
