Do you know what's missing?
Do you know what's missing from this picture!?
Avery's Binky!
Yep, it's gone. So long. Adios!
We lost it last Thursday. We looked high and low for it.
Everywhere.
Avery started to panic as it got closer to her bedtime. She kept coming up to each one of us and in her cute little voice she would sadly say, "Binky gone." "Bye bye Binky."
That night she cried for it. Then she FREAKED out for it. She really lost it. I have never seen her that way, poor thing. So Daddy couldn't take seeing his little girl all hysterical so he ran to the store to buy more.
He came home, feeling like a hero. Gave it to her, and she was SOOOO excited. She put it in her mouth, made a face, took it out, examined it, then threw it at him.
It was the wrong type of Binky.
So we tried to put her to bed again, and this time she started screaming that her nose hurt and she was scared. Jason and I got scared that this would go on all night, so Jason went to another store to find the right kind of binky. I just left her in her room to cry. When he came home (with FIVE new binky's) she was sound asleep. We were sure she would wake up in the middle of the night for it, but she didn't.
The next morning she asked for it, but I thought, -'if she can go all night without it, she is done.' So I just reminded her it was gone, and she just nodded her head and said, "Binky's gone."
It has been a week now and NO BINKY!
She doesn't even ask for it anymore. I am so proud of her. I am just terrified though that she will find that binky she lost and it will start all over again. So I bribed the boys and said if they can find it before her I would give them $5!! No one found it yet. AND we have 5 binky's hidden away, we were keeping them JUST IN CASE, but I think we are in the clear. So if anyone needs some binky's . . . .
And just a little side note, now that she doesn't have the binky plugged into her mouth 24/7 we have noticed that she likes to talk.
LOVES to talk.
In fact she doesn't shut up.
She talks non-stop.
At first it was cute, but now . . . I kinda miss the silent sucking away. It kinda drives Jason crazy. I'm afraid that if I leave her with him for a long period of time I will come home to a binky back in her mouth.
She is also very emotional lately. Everything sets her off, and we use to use her Binky as a self soother, now she just SCREAMS and it's hard to distract her. She is also ALWAYS asking for snacks. Eating ALL the time! I think she just misses something in her mouth.
So there you have it.
We don't have a binky baby anymore.
But it seems like we will be having a 500lb, emotionally un-stable, Chatty Chatterson on our hands soon!!!

Aww, what a big girl she is now. That didn't seem TOO hard to break her of. Maybe you should get her into some singing lessons or something to keep her little mouth busy!
Yeah, no more binky! I remember someone else who was quite the binky baby...like mother like daughter! I bet she talks clearer now too because she can enunciate her words without the binky in it! Teach her some little songs...she can self sooth by humming or singing to herself! Love ya
AWWW, SHE'S BINKY FREE! GLAD IT WASN'T TOO TRAUMATIC FOR HER. AS FAR AS THE NON STOP CHATTER, I LOVE IT, SHE CAN CALL BAMA ANY TIME AND CHAT TO HER HEARTS CONTENT. SHE IS SOOOO ADORABLE, I COULD JUST LISTEN TO HER LITTLE SWEET VOICE ALL DAY, I ESPECIALLY LOVE IT WHEN I HEAR HER SINGING, I MUST SAY THOUGH, I CAN DO WITHOUT THAT HIGH PITCH SCREAM SHE DOES WHEN SHE IS MAD AT ONE OF THE BOYS, THAT COULD SHATTER AN EAR DRUM! :) HUGS FROM BAMA
Oh the binky trauma. Both of my kids have loved their binkies. My oldest let his go pretty easily, but I know my daughter is going to have a hard time. Or maybe it is just me that will have a hard time. :) Congrats to your little one!
