Perspective.
It's amazing what a good weekend with the family can do for your soul.
I was running on empty last week. I really felt like I had nothing left to give. And every time I feel this way is when it seems like more is asked of me. I had a few little break-downs last week on the phone to the hubby. He wasn't home at all last week. He would leave in the morning before the kids were up, and come home every night around 10. So it was up to me to try to keep the home front running smoothly and it wasn't.
Jason called me on Thursday to meet him for lunch. It was so nice. I felt like for that hour and a half I could breathe again. But, then he had to go back to work, so he promised that this weekend we would do something, so that the whole family could get back on track.
Sometimes that is all we need. Sometimes just being a family for a weekend and doing something fun is all it takes to gain a little perspective. To stop and take a look at how blessed we are to be a happy family. To realize that the kids aren't just big pains, but that most the time they are my little love-bugs and they are always my biggest blessings. To know that we can make it through this struggling time of the beginning stages of starting a company, that our sacrifices will be rewarded. We just came up on one year of our business and we are still going, that in itself is a blessing, since most companies don't make any profit their first year. To understand just how much my family and friends love and care for me. To remember why I married Jason, he is my best friend, my other half, and anything is worth it as long as we do it together. To feel uplifted, hopeful and whole again.
We didn't do anything grand. We just had a little mini-home-vacation. We started doing this a couple years ago, and we love doing it. We decide that we are on vacation, even though we don't leave our town. We wake up in the morning and go out to breakfast, (Mc Donald's) just like we would if we were on vacation. We go places that we don't normally go to, (this time we went to Thanksgiving Point and went through the Dinosaur Museum.) we eat out for every meal, (Wingers, & Rubio's,) we do a little bit of shopping, we stop at the gas station and get snacks (corn nuts, skittles and suckers) for our "road trip" (even though the furthest we drove was to the outlet mall in Park City. The kids always say it was like we were on a real vacation. I hope we can fool them for a couple more years!
Hopefully the peace that I gained from our "home vacation" can get me through this week. It is going to be another one of me being solo for a few days. But I am going into this week with a better attitude and a grateful heart.

I think we need to build an erosion table in our playroom! They LOVED it!

That looks like a lot of fun! I'm glad you got to "get out". There are lots of fun things people can find to do in their own towns like that that are still exciting and new! Yay! I'm glad you had such a fun weekend!
Sounds like so much fun. I love the "mini-home vacation" idea.
Love the "mini-home vacation" idea, we will definitely have to start doing that. Looks like you guys had a ton of fun, glad you were all able to re-connect. The dinosaur museum is awesome, I remember going there with everyone when Jared and I were dating. Remember how attached Blaise was to me that weekend? I love that kid! LOVE the picture of Caiden & Ava huging, too cute! That girl has the skinniest little legs, how does she stand on those things? Better yet, how does she run about wreaking so much havoc on those things? They must be pure muscle...good for her! Wish I had legs like that.
HOW FUN, GLAD YOU GUYS WERE ABLE TO DO THIS TOGETHER AS A FAMILY. FUN, FUN! LOVE THE PICTURES.
WE ARE SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU ALL SOON.
LOVE YA,
You know, I've never been to Thanksgiving point. I like the mini vacation idea. I'm glad you got a break. It sounds like it was just what you needed.
