What to do, What to do?
So I have been wanting to change my living room up a bit.
I have always gone safe and easy with my decorating. The reds, the greens, the tans, the typical "Tuscan Pottery Barn" style. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it, but lately I have been wanting to step outside the box. I usually go with the "norm" with my decorating, and what's best on the check book.
I'm a little torn because it's not easy to change things up. It's easier for me to just buy something I like, not CREATE something I like. I know I want browns, blues and greens. But I don't know what "feel" I want. I want a welcoming, family, warm feel, but there are two style's of that I can't decide on.
I LOVE the bright and crisp look from Pottery Barn.

But I LOVE this shabby-chic simple look from Ballard Design too.

These are the colors I came up with.

So give it to me! I want to hear any and all ideas, suggestions or just a Hello!!!

It is SO funny how on the same page we ALWAYS are!!! I was looking at the SAME exact colors for my living room. It's a good thing we don't live next door to each other huh? We might have identical houses! hee hee ;) My answer is that I LOVE those colors and they would look great in your house and with your big ole comfy couch!
Hmmm, they are both very nice and I know you'll do great with whatever style you choose since you're a "mini Martha". But I think I slightly prefer the muted & shabby. I just love the fabrics you chose to go along with that motif. Good luck, let us know how it turns out!
You can't go wrong with either one but I'm leaning towards muted & shabby.
The picture of the muted and shabby looks really "safe". But the fabrics are gorgeous and not as "safe" looking. They're both great. Just take pictures of whatever you come up with.
WELL, HERE IS MY TWO CENTS WORTH. I LOVE THEM BOTH, YOU HAVE GREAT TASTE. HOWEVER I THINK THE FABRIC CHOICES ON THE LEFT ARE A BETTER FIT FOR YOUR PERSONALITY, THEY ARE A BIT RETRO LOOKING, LOVE THAT. THEY ALSO LOOK VERY CASUAL COMFY. MY PERSONAL OPINION THEY WOULD SERVE YOU BETTER ON A YEAR ROUND BASIS. YOU COULD USE ACCENTS TO MAKE THEM COOL AND BRIGHT FOR SPRING AND SUMMER, THEN CHANGE THEM OUT TO WARM AND COZY FOR FALL AND WINTER. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU COME UP WITH, I KNOW WHAT EVER YOU DO IT WILL BE FABULOUS, DARLING. WE WANT UPDATES!
Those are great color choices. I tend to lean more to the muted and shabby, but the bright and clean would look great too. I am not much help, because I am so indecisive. I can't wait to see what you decide.
Go bright! i would love to see what yo do with all those great colors and desings!
